ONLINE DATERS ARE MORE CONFIDENT,
ROMANTIC AND COMMITTED THAN NON-ONLINE DATERS

Research from Tickle Matchmaking Uncovers Truths about Online Daters

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — March 2, 2004 — Tickle Matchmaking (www.tickle.com/match), a leading online dating service from Tickle Inc., today revealed research results showing that online daters are more confident, romantic and committed to a relationship than non-online daters. The research was conducted by the Tickle Research Group, Tickle's in-house think tank responsible for research and development of the company's PhD-certified personality, relationship and career tests.

The findings are based on a sample of more than 250,000 singles in the U.S., who responded to Tickle's personality and relationship tests. Highlights include the following:

  • Online daters are more confident.
    1. Only 69 percent of online daters have trouble asking someone out on a date versus 79 percent of non-online daters.
    2. Forty-six percent say they feel comfortable making direct eye contact with someone they have just met versus 34 percent of non-online daters.
    3. Only 50 percent get flustered talking to someone they're attracted to versus 62 percent of non-online daters.
  • Online daters are more romantic.
    1. Eighty-five percent of online daters believe that everyone has a soul mate versus 81 percent of non-online daters.
    2. Seventy-eight percent believe in love at first sight versus 70 percent of non-online daters.
  • Online daters are more committed to a relationship.
    1. Ninety-two percent of online daters are looking for a long-term relationship versus 89 percent of non-online daters.
    2. Only 18 percent try to end things first when they think someone might want to break up with them versus 27 percent of non-online daters.
    3. Eighty-six percent would be willing to go out of their way to meet a romantic partner versus 75 percent of non-online daters.
“The findings from our study show that, contrary to popular stereotypes, online daters have several personality traits that people desire most in a partner - confidence, romance and commitment,” said Dr. Courtney Johnson, director of research at Tickle Inc. “More than 40 million singles are using online dating services, and with such a large pool of quality individuals, chances are, your ideal mate is somewhere out on the Internet.”

Let Science Help You Find True Love
Tickle's research results help provide an answer to one of dating's common questions - where can I find desirable individuals to date? The challenge now becomes finding the most compatible match within the millions of online daters across the U.S. While most online dating services focus primarily on making superficial matches, Tickle Matchmaking is redefining the online dating experience by taking a deeper, scientific approach and helping singles find true love rather than a short-lived fling.

“Tickle Matchmaking leverages our extensive knowledge and research in relationship and personality science to empower individuals to discover more about themselves and who they really want in a long-term partner,” said Dr. Johnson. “By applying science to the search for love, Tickle Matchmaking helps singles better understand their relationship needs and actually reach their goal of finding the right person.”

Tickle Matchmaking is one of the most popular online dating services with key features combining science and fun, including:

The TrueMatch Test - One of the pioneers of personality-based, compatibility tests, Tickle Matchmaking features the TrueMatch test, which analyzes the parts of an individual's personality that are scientifically-proven to be the most important when it comes to forming and maintaining relationships. The TrueMatch test helps singles learn who they are and who is most compatible for them.

Chemistry Reports - Exclusive to Tickle Matchmaking, the Chemistry Report analyzes the results from the matchmaking tests and summarizes how two individuals might “sizzle” or “fizzle” in a relationship. With this information, singles get a glimpse into what the potential positives and negatives might be before they start a relationship.

Compatibility Scores - One of the few services that actually measures more than just superficial compatibility, Tickle Matchmaking uses the results of its matchmaking tests to predict the compatibility percentage between two people, allowing individuals to find matches with the greatest potential for long-term relationship success based on personality - not just profile details.

Deeper Profiles - Tickle Matchmaking allows members to include their Tickle test results on their personal profiles, giving individuals a deeper, more insightful and unbiased look into who someone is. By adding the test results, not only can people see that a person is a red-head and likes to ski, but they also know that this individual has an above average IQ, a “skydiver” personality, and much more.

To get started on the road to true love, join the 2+ million other singles on Tickle Matchmaking by going to www.tickle.com to sign up. It's free to browse, take the tests and post a profile - and only $19.95/month to start making connections with potential ideal mates.
